Standards that regulate a product in Mexico

In Mexico, there are many regulations that are important for the regulation of a food product, today we will talk about 2.

The first is NOM-251-SSA1-2009 “Hygiene practice for the food-processing, beverages, or dietary supplements”, the purpose of this legislation is to provide the producers with a general framework of requirements to reduce the risk of contamination throughout all stages of the production of food, with the aim of strengthening the system of food supply in forms of production more secure.

And the second is NOM-002-SCFI-2011 “Pre-packaged goods content net tolerances and methods of verification”, this Official Mexican Standard establishes tolerances and test methods for the verification of the contents, net of pre-packaged goods and the sampling plans used in the verification of products that declare their net contents in units of mass or volume.
